Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.
A field of flowers at sunrise,
lit up by an ephemeral golden glow,
rain hitting windows during a downpour,
the roaring strength of thunder,
the frightening beauty of lightning.
The ever-changing emotions of the sea;
peaceful and reassuring on a calm day,
but the next it is powerfully angry,
wonderfully wicked,
huge waves crashing against the shore –
wanting you to acknowledge its presence,
its rage, it’s fury.
“I am here and I matter. Look at me”
A wind chime tinkling on a summer’s evening,
the ethereal glitter of the stars on a clear night.
A cry of grief, tears of pain, emotional destruction.
An unsanitised wound,
dirty and gritty and
threatening to get worse if not treated soon.
Smoke escaping stained fingertips and sullied tongues,
the wildness in deciding not to care –
Freedom. Running through the night,
mischievous laughter bouncing off street corners,
An illusion: the indistructability of youth.
The vulnerability of a dandelion
so fragile it could break and
disperse at the gentlest puff of breath
or gust of wind.
Who am I?
Who am I?
Who am I?
