Silver Thread in Onyx
Upon reemerging,
splatters of grey
line the onyx cloth,
rippling across the ebb,
and puddling around my feet.
Pulled away, drawn further out
to the endless flowing sea,
travelling out towards
expanses your feet had never touched.
The swirl of pink petals
follow after you,
where I must not,
and cannot go.
Swirling in and amongst the
pebbles, pulling the thread that
tied us together out,
out, towards newer horizons.
A swirl dances around the boots
on my feet, a gentle reminder
that I’m still here
Even when looping thread through needles,
Knit, purl, and unwind,
and wear rings that would’ve been
on your fingers as I do,
you are here more than just
items that once were yours.
I hope the cocoon you
gently rest in
has kept you warm and safe.
