Of Clowns and Losers
TW: Mentions of death and conflict.
In a world full of clowns and losers,
we are told history repeats,
and people’s hatred never seems to go away.
The situation changes, bombs get dropped,
children cry.
No matter the colour, blood gets shed.
But isn’t it just?
Depending on the craved-up colonial boundaries,
isn’t it just like a pinprick on a large white canvas to us?
Why do we place power in the hands of clowns
and losers?
Their painted faces hiding their vile ideals
They don’t care about you, me, or the planet.
They’d rather live on Mars than live with consequences
they sow,
it stares at them, like the unblinking eyes of a dead child
trapped in the rubble of his home. They are blind to it.
Patience is a virtue no one has.
Minds race to be the next one in line
the first one to get that new phone, drink, house, gun
money, money, money,
whispering to you like the devil on your back.
The first, the first, the next.
We hardly notice anymore,
our hearts do not see the deep scars
they leave behind.
Virtue has long since left us
And we’re drowning.
What about you, dear reader?
you flail around because the world is unkind and you can’t change that,
hope has long left her box.
you gotta be tough, you gotta not cry
don’t be weak, don’t stand up.
It is what it is.
An ancient proverb of ours
To show that history repeats
And that we are ourselves
Clowns and losers
