Not the Hills Your Mother Walked" reflects on the weight of parental expectations, comparing the writer’s limitations to their mother’s strength and finding freedom embracing their own path.
Exploring the themes of heartbreak and betrayal, this poem embodies the numbing feeling that accompanies the choice to give up on a relationship.
A poem which explores the polarity of two different cultures from the perspective of a second-generation immigrant, and how this can affect the definition of ‘home’.
