The Void

I wonder what I represent in this world of horror and fate.

Sometimes I feel trapped in a void, devoid of my own existence, programmed into some strange interdimensional reality that I cannot escape nor break from.

Intrusive thoughts creep into my daily life, yet I am often compelled to resist them.

The day-to-day tribulations of life. The usual diatribe. The mundane routines. The same faces. The same meals.

All too typical.

All too sterile.

Lost in my imagination and wandering thoughts,

I allow myself to be consumed by child’s play,

Anything to take my mind off things,

Anything to take my mind off my reality.

For a while, it works.

Just until the television goes off.

Just until the phone screen fades to black.

And then it’s all dark again.
