For You
As the sun rises and another day dawns.
For you,
I’ll wake up.
I look into the skies and wonder,
What would you do if you could see what I see?
The beauty of the sky,
The fluttering butterflies,
The ever-growing sunflowers shining in the sunlight.
You would probably laugh,
That enchanting laugh,
So radiant
It could heal the poison of ivy.
For you,
I’ll hold those memories tight.
I truly miss you.
You were my ever-present aid.
Even in my darkest days,
From the shadows of the valley,
From the bottomless pit,
From my shoddy cage.
Why did you have to go?
We had so many more memories to build,
So many sandcastles to mend.
But you left with the tides.
And as I sit down
And sway in our rocking chair,
I look into the skies once again.
In solace
I will hold you forever close.
For you.
